FAQs
How was the idea for the direct democracy platform conceived?
The global situation, political decisions, censorship, and the lack of a professional platform prompted the initiation and unification of supporters into a single independent direct democracy system.
Who funds e-democracy.direct?
The platform is funded by its founders. Attempts have been made to obtain grants from state institutions, but they have been met with refusal and ignorance. If there is sufficient interest, we will immediately seek financial support from individuals who understand what direct democracy is. We invite you to participate in the survey.
More on finances.
Until a decision is made regarding the legal form and transparent accounting methods, we remain in our comfort zone (anonymous) and rely on voluntary donations in the donate category.
Is direct democracy in this form not a utopia?
Definitely not if the majority of people take matters into their own hands. Let everyone have the opportunity to say proudly in the future, “I was part of this project.”
How can direct democracy be implemented?
Democracy can be implemented in many ways, through small actions as a grassroots movement – local offices, local or distributed institutions, state-capital companies. It can also be implemented top-down, for example, through a nationwide referendum and the imposition of direct democracy on politicians.
Why is e-democracy.direct better than projects implemented by governments, such as the Swiss system?
A grassroots system will be free of flaws in the system’s design; anyone worldwide can check the program code and actively participate in creating the platform, making changes, or deciding on them. The state system that already exists in Switzerland or is to be introduced, for example, in Poland, will be a caricature of democracy, aimed at discrediting the system and showing that it does not work.
Who is working on the platform?
Currently, several people are permanently involved in the project. It is a group of individuals who know each other from various platforms for programmers, activists, and libertarians. The team consists of people from around the world, from different cultures, beliefs, but with similar values.
Will democracy not divide citizens?
If citizens accept the majority’s decision with humility, it should not pose a greater problem than in the compulsion of parliamentary democracy.
Is there one main person responsible for the platform?
No, decisions about the idea and further actions are made collectively, but only until the platform and application are created. After that, an autonomous, modular, and multi-threaded growing direct democracy system will follow.
Who can use the application?
It is available for download and use by everyone. From the smallest units such as educational institutions, offices, companies, communities, cooperatives, or distributed institutions to state entities requiring central management and decision-making.
Should I participate in the survey?
There is significant interest in direct democracy, and the survey will help us gather the necessary statistics for the preparation and implementation of the platform. The initiative is global, and we need tremendous support. The survey is short, and we will contact the selected group at the appropriate time.
Protests and direct democracy.
The e-democracy platform will allow for the peaceful takeover of power and the implementation of changes in line with citizens’ expectations. Protests have been ongoing worldwide without bringing anything positive—look at China, Russia, etc.
What are the basic functions of the e-democracy system?
Please refer to the “About e-democracy” section.
