E-democracy will enable the development of both institutions and businesses. By introducing a modular platform, we obtain a transparent program for the development of national and local governments. Each registered participant can actively participate in the development and work on projects. Due to its wide range of applications, for illustrative purposes, a municipality will be considered a sample client.
Each registered user gains access to the platform created by users after registration and verification established by the system administrator. Each created profile is publicly visible along with its activity. Upon logging in, the user has access to a panel containing all essential information such as:
- Personal profile (“About me”) with all mandatory information due to affiliation with the locality, with the option to add non-mandatory information.
- Activity history and voting, ongoing issues, and votes in the profile.
Municipality representation structure: Mayor, Manager, Secretary, Service Technician, Driver, etc. Each user has access to public information such as name, surname, age, seniority, achievements, activity, comments from other users (e.g., employee profile at the office). The profile includes information about the type, scope, and duration of the contract, achievements, social score, and trust (support on a scale for and against). Professional activity, proposed changes through elections and decisions to improve the image of the department are visible.
City representation structure: President, etc., each with a full profile, activity, and social score.
Country representation structure: President, Prime Minister, Ministers, etc., each with a full profile, activity, and social score.
Upcoming votes/urgent matters Quick access to upcoming votes. Votes have links to documentation, opinions, examples. Voting is secret until the results are announced.
Voting This user can participate in voting and choose expenses, e.g.: Voting concerns the choice of the order of completed works:
- Renovation of the current playground budget x contractor x deadline x project x
- Renovation of the current playground budget y contractor y deadline y project y or
- Modernization of the park and bike route budget x contractor x deadline x project x
- etc. Each vote, after the voting is completed, becomes public and cannot be reversed.
Collaboration on projects Projects for joint preparatory work before voting have links to documentation, opinions, examples, and debates. Anyone can comment on a specific section or part of the materials. The more support a comment receives, the higher it will be displayed and considered in the final phase of work on a specific project. A project can be any work on laws, regulations, or projects.
Submit a demand or objection Projects and proposals from citizens are displayed. Anyone can vote if they think the idea is good and support it or submit an objection. You can submit a new idea or propose a change, e.g. reduce taxes or locally place a stop sign at an intersection.
Budget with revenue and expenditure breakdown Displayed average annual budget plans with the option to choose or propose expenses.
Information about the municipality Agreements with suppliers. Contracts with companies and the tender process. Other agreements and obligations.
E-municipality: Integration with existing e-municipalities
The e-democracy platform will increase the activity and decision-making of members of a specific group. It is a tool that improves the flow of information and allows hiring people with local support. Transparent reporting of new development projects constitutes healthy and necessary competition in development. With the e-democracy platform, you can report and reduce suspicious transactions or even corruption. The e-democracy system is a platform that enables active participation in the decision-making and development process. Increasing user engagement, minimizing corruption, better representation of social interests, and promoting the development of domestic businesses are also significant elements of the software description. E-democracy software also allows minimizing bureaucracy and streamlining decision-making processes. The platform enables fast communication between participants, resulting in more efficient decision-making.
